Let me share one of my experiences with you all. Recently, a 30-year-old man came to me for a dental consultation, complaining of pain in his upper back tooth mostly at night. He had a big cavity in that tooth and had already visited another dentist who advised him to have a root canal treatment. However, he was reluctant and wanted me to clean and fill the cavity only. After explaining the consequences of not getting the root canal treatment, the patient understood the importance and agreed to go for it.
In this blog, we will discuss the significance of root canal treatment and how it can save your natural teeth. When tooth decay reaches the pulp, it can cause severe pain, sensitivity, and infection. In such cases, filling the cavity externally won't help as bacteria and toxins will further move down through the root canal and cause destruction of the surrounding bone, making the tooth loose and eventually leading to extraction.
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment involves numbing the tooth, removing the entire pulp from the crown and root canals, cleaning and shaping the canals, and filling them with appropriate materials. This procedure helps to remove all the bacteria and its toxins and prevent further infection, allowing you to save your natural teeth and eat the foods you love.
In conclusion, root canal treatment is crucial to prevent the spread of infection and save your natural teeth. It is always better to listen to your dentist and follow their advice for a healthy and happy smile.
